I have Proxmox and a USB RTL8156 (2.5G) running on a Laptop. The USB NIC is not passing VLANS as tagged. I use the onboard NIC and everything is fine.

The USB NIC is causing the System to generate millions of logs like so:

Dec 25 19:35:21 "<SERVER>" kernel: cdc_ncm 2-3:2.0 "enx<MAC>": network connection: disconnected (link keeps going up and down)

In the DHCP Log of my router it is showing the dhcp request on the untagged vlan.

The USB NIC is baised on the RTL8156 chip. I am using a MSI GL63-8RC Gaming Laptop with 32GB Ram, 1TB SSD, 1TB NMVE, and 1GB Killer NIC on the latest version of Proxmox VE.

Anyone else using multi-Gig Networking with Proxmox? I can access the server on the usb nic but the vlan are not accessible. My router is doing the vlans and dhcp. I have the usb nic and the onboard nic on same bridge so this confirms it is the usb nic ( or driver? ).

EDIT: Clarity

I didn't find the rtl8156 in the linux source. The source module on the realtek website is up to Kernel 4.15 only.
