I've been trying to figure this out for a few hours now and had no luck...

I am trying to install Proxmox 5.3 on a NUC8i5BEH. When the Proxmox menu appears, I select "Install Proxmox VE"

A screen appears with the message "Loading initial ramdisk ..." and then the screen goes black and appears to hang. I've left it alone for up to 5-10 minutes, and the screen still hangs. I get the same result when I select the "Test Memory" option.

I've tried reseating the RAM sticks and using different ISO-USB utilies (Etcher, ImageToUSB, RUFUS [in DD mode]). I've also tried ImgBurn to burning the ISO to a CD and booting from that. However, the results are still the same.

Has anyone run into this issue and found a solution? I'd really appreciate any assistance. Thanks!

For anyone that comes across this thread - switching to Legacy Boot mode seems to have resolved this issue.

Another maybe even easier solution is to Boot the USB-Drive with UEFI instead of Legacy. It will also do the trick!

I got the same problem, except that mine seems to turn black later on. When I do the debug boot, I need to press ctrl-D twice, but then pretty soon the screen just becomes black and stays black... I did an UEFI boot. Anyone any idea what to do next?

I used the latest 6.4 image downloaded just now from the site. Hardware is a Ryzen 7 3700X with an ASUS simple GT710 graphics board (as the processor does not have graphics built-in).

UPDATE: I worked around the problem by using a VGA cable instead of HDMI.
