Good day,

Understanding that it’s possible to install Proxmox on top an existing Debian Squeeze installation, is it possible / has it been attempted to install Proxmox on top an existing Ubuntu OS?
Steaming from previous posts, we are dealing with several compliance restrictions. Several of our compliance restrictions have been mitigated on the Ubuntu platform already.

Questions:

1.

  1. Can Proxmox be installed on top Ubuntu – if so, which OS versions are supported?
  2. Is this a supported deployment (if we were to engage in a support contract)?

Thank you.

I'm sure it would not be supported but it seems it would be possible.

You would need to custom compile the proxmox kernel with the proper options needed for apparmor.
Then install the apparmor tools/utilities.

Seems like it would be a lot of work to maintain such a system.

What sort of compliance issues do you have?
Maybe someone will have an idea on how to meet the compliance if we knew exactly what the compliance requirements are.
