Problems receiving some e-mails

Hey there!

We have been having some issues receiving e-mails mainly with attachments sometimes. This problem occurs with various recipients, and also various senders.

Our users will receive e-mails with attachments from people ans sometimes the message will arrive without the attachment, but everything else is fine. No rule from proxmox or anything seem to kick in that remove attachments - They just seem to mysteriously vanish. Also sometimes the messages themselves seem to be truncated, but that is very rare. When the attachment is stripped from a message (after trying multiple times), our users have had the sender just send the same message to their personal e-mail accounts and the messages arrive there just fine.

This problem seems to be random. Attached is two separate message logs of where the attachments are stripped.

I did notice in the message log that there are SMTP errors, but not all messages from the senders (non-attachments) have those SMTP errors. In these logs you will notice that the first delivery part the message size is normal, but the second part the size has been reduced. No where does it say the reason for the size reduction.

Any input into this problem would be appreciated. This problem is random and driving me crazy...!

Is it possible to get such mail - or is the problem not reproducable at all?

Hello!

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it is possible to reproduce the problem (Only from the same sender to the same recipient in each case though). Do you have an address as to where I can send you one?

As for getting you SSH access to our box - I will look into that possibility and get back to you.

Thanks!

Mike

Sorry, I forgot to be more clear on the question:

I have a copy of one of the messages in question (with headers) of with the attachment stripped, and also the user was kind enough to forward the same message sent to her personal e-mail where the attachment was not stripped.

I would prefer to not post them publicly. Do you have an address as to where I can send it to you?

Cheers,

Mike
