Hi,
I have a cluster with two machines running for about six month. Now i see that multicast from the two servers has stopped working

Code:
root@anakin:~# omping -c 10000 -i 0.001 -F -q yoda anakin
yoda : waiting for response msg
yoda : joined (S,G) = (*, 232.43.211.234), pinging
yoda : given amount of query messages was sent

yoda : unicast, xmt/rcv/%loss = 10000/10000/0%, min/avg/max/std-dev = 0.094/0.123/1.521/0.024
yoda : multicast, xmt/rcv/%loss = 10000/0/100%, min/avg/max/std-dev = 0.000/0.000/0.000/0.000

Code:
root@yoda:~# omping -c 10000 -i 0.001 -F -q yoda anakin
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : joined (S,G) = (*, 232.43.211.234), pinging
anakin : waiting for response msg
anakin : server told us to stop

anakin : unicast, xmt/rcv/%loss = 9120/9120/0%, min/avg/max/std-dev = 0.096/0.150/0.745/0.016
anakin : multicast, xmt/rcv/%loss = 9120/9120/0%, min/avg/max/std-dev = 0.108/0.158/0.750/0.016

I have 0% loss from yoda to anakin and 100% loss from anakin to yoda. They are attacched to the same switch...

Any idea?

I would suspect here the switch is blocking the multicast traffic. If you have IGMP snooping enabled, either add an IGMP querier or disable IGMP snooping althogether.

Hi,
thank you for your reply.
I have a Netgear switch and I followed the multicast note for configuring and in querier page I have

querier admin mode: disable
snooping querier address: 0.0.0.0
igmp version: 2
Query interval: 60
Querier expiry interval: 125

(sorry I cannot post image...)

Is it wrong?

Thank you

no idea as I am not using this hardware
you can try to disable IGMP snooping and see if that helps ...
have you though about firewall rules too ?
