Problem Creating file system

Hi, I am very new to proxmox and thought that you guys might be far wiser than me...
HP 380 G6, 5520
36 Gb ram, 4 x 146 Gb disk(sas), 4 x 300 Gb disk(sas)
Using raid 5.

Installing from a CD
Hangs on 1% when creating file system and seems to "loopwrite" on a single disk. Everything freezes.

Not knowing where to go next.

First Hardware or Software Raid5 is not recommended for production systems onsidering you have 8 disks I would use Raid 10 here.
To rule a problem with the disks, can you try a Debian Jessie install on the same disk and see if it hangs too ?
