Hi All,

Finally I am planning to upgrade from PMG 7 to 8. I read the https://pmg.proxmox.com/wiki/index.php/Upgrade_from_7_to_8 and saw that in a single node environment it is possible to install PMG 8 and restore the config from the existing PMG 7 node.

My question is, in my setup, I have 3 nodes in a cluster, if I remove the cluster, and create 3 new instances of PMG8 and restore each one with the respective backup, and re-create the cluster, would it work? This is not mentioned in the above article, so I thought I'd double check before actually going ahead with it.

Your responses will be highly appreciated.

You can create a new PMG, install the backup from one of your PMG nodes, and join 2 fresh new PMG's to re-create the cluster.

additionally (as a general rule) - always create and keep backups! - so if the PMG's are on virtual machines maybe just shut-down the old ones.

I hope this helps!

Hi Stoiko,

Thanks for your response. I will try it out and post the results here. The PMGs are in a virtual environment, so I can easily shut and unshut when needed.
