I followed these steps Proxmox Guide and managed to passthrough the iGPU from a i5-8400 to a Windows 10 VM.

Now I'm trying to passthrough a complete PCIe sATA ASM1062 controller card to a VM running openmediavault.

The output from lspci -k is:

My VM.conf:

Code:

hostpci0: 03:00.0,pcie=1
machine: q35
memory: 4096
name: openmediavault

sockets: 1
vmgenid: 5601d7dd-bb61-4f14-8d2e-db5d761f55c5

If I start the openmediavault VM, the host system freezes and I have to turn off the host manually.

Does anyone have some tips for me?

After many tries ... creating a new VM with UEFI instead instead of SeaBios solved my problem and passing through works!

I created an account here just to reply with my thanks for this!

Terramaster F4-423, passthrough of SATA controllers to OpenMediaVault works with this method. q35 machine type and UEFI BIOS, now my virtualized NAS works with Proxmox!

04:00.0 SATA controller: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1062 Serial ATA Controller (rev 02)
00:17.0 SATA controller: Intel Corporation Device 4dd3 (rev 01)

When I select UEFI over SeaBios this message pop out:
You need to add en EFI disk for storing the EFI settings
Have you faced this as well?

EDIT:
I created a brand new VM and deleted the previous one, setting the BIOS as OMVF Uefi instead of using SeaBios as @JauntyJosef already mentioned.
After this, it took me a while before succesfully start the VM but finally I installed Truenas then I passed through the SATA PCI controller and like a charm the drives are now visible!
