PCIe passthrough sata controller x10dri

Hello, i would like to ask if i can passthrough one sata controller to a trueNAS VM (preferably the sSATA for 4 drives) and use the 6-port SATA controller for PVE boot drive, isos, vms etc. thank you.

Is it alone in its IOMMU group? Does it work when passed through (i.e., has someone else on the internet had success with it)? Does it reset properly (so that is also works then the VM is shut down and restarted)?
The first you can check for yourself (as it depends on the motherboard and CPU), the other answers might be found on the internet or maybe someone here has experience with those particular controllers.

Ok, i didn't try it yet but i think (not sure) that if i 'll passthrough them either the SPSR chipset or the LPC controller with SMBus may malfunction.

If you have empty PCIe slot go get a cheap ASM PCIe-SATA expansion card.
Anything with a driver in kernel tree should not bother you with resetting and other painful problems.

Well, to be honest those ASM SATA controllers without fancy RAID functions are so simple there is nothing to reset really, just like your ordinary single port NIC.

Are they in the same IOMMU group or do you think that because of the PCI IDs? People often confuse them, that's why I'm asking. Maybe show the IOMMU groups if you need help interpreting: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/PCI_Passthrough#Verify_IOMMU_isolation

wow indeed! thank you a lot for the clarification, i belong to these people.

However, I found that the "1f" are on the same group97 as before-mentioned, but s-sata is on its own group90 alone, maybe i am lucky. When i 'll test this i 'll revert with the outcome.

I tried a testing-pool with 1 ssd and there were not any problems when shutting down or restarting the vm. Any ideas what should i check furthermore?
