I have a PVE system and a TrueNAS each on dedicated hardware. I don't have a 3rd machine that I can dedicate as a PBS, but my own workstation has some decent capacity (24core, 128GB RAM, raidz2...running trixie).
I currently use rsync and file copying of snapshots and manually run backups - from the PVE/TN -> workstation. This is working, but obviously not ideal.
Is it possible to manually install PBS using .deb/.tar.gz files and run it on my PC?
I do understand that it is not optimum but I figure it is better to have something rather than nothing.
PS. please don't flame me if this is a ridiculous idea - I'm just asking 'cos I can't find any hints other than....
this is not recommended and is for experts
Thanks (and sorry if I'm even dumber than I thought I was)
