OVF import fails - VMWARE to PROXMOX 6.4

Hello,

I am trying to migrate one of the Windows 2002 VM from the VMWARE esxi to promox. I have followed the below

1) Created the OVF file from VMWARE EsXI using ACTION-TEMPLATE-EXPORT OVF. It created the OVF file XXXXBB01TST42-SQL SERV Test Machine.ovf.
2) I ftped the OVF file to the proxmox 6.4 under /tmp/XXXXBB01TST42-SQL SERV Test Machine.ovf
3) then I issued the command qm importovf 100 /tmp/'XXXXBB01TST42-SQL SERV Test Machine.ovf' local-lvm, then i got an error as
error parsing XXXXBB01TST42-SQL SERV Test Machine-1.vmdk, file seems not to exist at /tmp/XXXXBB01TST42-SQL SERV Test Machine-1.vmdk

Has anyone undergone this situation while migrating from VMWARE to PROXMOX ?

Hi,

in the .ovf file the vmdk is referenced, hence the importer can't find the file and you get the above error.
Either copy also the vmdk to the proxmox server in the same path as the .ovf file or use the ovftool from VMware to download the files to the proxmox server and do the import again.
