Hey all. I am utilizing an HP P2000 SAN with 2 HP 380 gen8's. Currently I am making a 16 disk raid 10 and multipathing to the host over 6GB SAS. I then setup LVM and pass it to my two Proxmox hosts. When setting up the VM I am using one large disk for the OS and the data. We typically have one mount which holds all of our data within the VM. My thought is to have two raid sets. One raid 1 of two disks which I would provide to proxmox over LVM for the OS only. Then setup my 16 disk raid 10 and multipath it to the proxmox hosts. I would then directly pass the /dev/mapper/mpath# to the VM itself. In my mind this takes another software layer out of the picture and might provide a slight boost in performance for our application. Figured it was worth asking here.
Once my current benchmarks finish, I will scrap the setup and try the above idea. Appreciate any thoughts or opinions.
