openvswitch install

New to Proxmox, but trying to install openvswitch. First, I tried to just create a vswitch int he GUI, but it said I needed to install the package.

Goto the CLI and run "apt-get install openvswitch-switch" and I get "unabel to locate package openvswitch-switch".

Silly question but is your host connected to the internet?
If it is not, or there is an issue with connecting to the internet, then 'apt-get' will not work at all.

From the console can you ping 8.8.8.8? (google dns)

Have you attempted to just do a "update"

apt-get update

If you get any errors, your 'sources.list' or your network may have a problem or is misconfigured.

Do you have a PVE subscription?
If not that is ok, but you need to make sure your 'sources.list' is right and your host can connect to the internet.http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Package_repositories

apt-get update did the trick. I was able to install openvswitch right after. Thanks!!
