Hello all,
This is my first experience with Proxmox, and first time posting, but I've been reading, and searching here for awhile. Please go lightly on me if I'm asking some newb questions.
I got Proxmox installed and configured very easily out of the gate... KUDOS to the creators.
My next step was to try creating a guest (opensuse 11) in a container from a template on the proxmox download list. The creation of the VE went fine and started up no problem.
I set the VE to use briged networking, as I have a block of IP's from my colo and I wanted to set all the network setting from the VE. This is where I got stuck. In the VE there are no network adapters listed, so I created eth0 and set with the appropriate settings. I started sshd, and tried to hit the VE directly via ssh and nothing.
I tried pinging the outside world (both servers in the same rack, and google) from the VE using the VNC and no dice there. To my understanding setting a VE to bridge mode essentially gives the VE direct access to the network adapter on the host machine? If this is the case than I can only assume there's trouble with opensuse running in the container?
I created another VE and set it to use venet, set the proper network information from the proxmox web interface. Again VE creation went great started up fine. using ifconfig I get vmbr0 as a network device but it's set up with the same settings as the loopback interface. I tried adding a network interface in the same fashion as I did in the VE set to bridged mode and it created vmbr0:0 but still no network connectivity.
I'm a bit lost as I've been pouring through the documentation both here on the proxmox forums as well as the openvz forums but to no avail.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Cheers,
Andy
