OMV w/ passthrough of disk controller

I have a VM running OMV6. I've passed through a SAS controller to the VM with 4 hard drives attached. The setup was working fine until I ran a backup. I ran the backup with the Stop mode. After the VM came back up the disks were missing. Restarting the VM and host, don't fix the issue.

Any ideas?

What controller are you using? Maybe you are running in a "reset bug" where the PCIe card can only initialize once? In such a case a reboot of the host would be required to passthrough the controller again.

It's a SAS controller. Broadcom / LSI - SAS2008 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [Falcon]
What is the reset bug?
So I'd have to restart the host every time this issues comes up, then re-attach this device manually?

See here for explanation: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PC...ough_a_device_that_does_not_support_resetting

If your controller got problems with resetting, then yes. But you don't need to manually reattach that device. Just reboot the PVE node and the VM should be able to start again with working PCI passthrough.

Does the controller get detected at all? (lspci on the host.)
Look for errors/abnormalities in the syslog of the host. (E.g.: journalctl | grep -i mpt or journalctl -b | grep -i mpt)

If all is okay on the host, do the same inside the VM.

So now I can't replicate the issue. I followed the previous steps (backup w/ stop) and the VM came back up fine.
I'll monitor and post if it happens again.
