Hi everybody,

i have following problem with my Windows XP VM on proxmox. Reasoned by the bad internet security of Win XP and the failed installation of Avast on the VM i have following idea for this VM:

I want a VM, which cant connect to the dangerous internet :D, so i use the VM without any trouble offline. But I have no idea jet, how to transfer data from the VM to my own computer... First I used a NAS in the internal Network. But if i disconnect the network connection, the VM loses the connection to the NAS logically...

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Best regards,
Gray_Stone

Configure the XP VM with a network adaptor with an IP address, but without a default gateway.

This means the VM will be able to connect to the NAS (assume they're on the same subnet), but not the internet

Hi vmware,

thanks for your fast reply. It works! But with your solution i'm limited to an static ip, right?
Is it possible, that I can use the standard DHCP and block the connection to the WWW manually?

Thanks a lot!

Look, this is no longer proxmox specific, but a general networking question.

Without knowing your network config, it's hard to recommend the best approach. Firewall, DHCP, etc. many ways to choose from.
