non-free-firmware install tries to remove kernel

I am trying to install firmware-netxen to get my HP NC375T NIC working on version 9 but it tries to uninstall proxmox-default-kernel, proxmox-kernel-7.0, proxmox-ve and pve-firmware.

Any thoughts on how I can get the NetXen NX3031 chipset to work on Proxmox 9. Works fine on 8?

Can't we just use what we already have?

Since `firmware-netxen` overwrites `pve-firmware`, I believe it is attempting to uninstall anything related to `pve-firmware`.

If it's VEN 4040 DEV 0100, wouldn't it be used as long as it's loaded (modprobe netxen_nic)?

Thought I had a driver issue as pve9 keeps dropping the alternative name of the nic and vm's will not ping anything outside the host. I Just put in a new NIC (same model) and the alternative name came back but it still cannot ping outside the host.
I'll do some more testing and make a new post if necessary.

Didn't know I could get the driver name with lspci. I am guessing that I might have two problems. One with the card dropping in and out which may have been fixed with replacing the card (time will tell) and the second where the vm can only use the primary card and not the 4 port secondary. I am converting my machines from PVE 8 to 9 but this computer has not had PVE before. I will get one of my existing machines on 8 converted and see if I get the same issue. They all have onboard and this 4 port NIC.

Seems like they all have a driver loaded. You probably shouldn't care so much about the name. Pin what you need to. What's this look like?
