I have renamed a proxmox node (/etc/hosts and /etc/hostname changed). The node still appears in the cluster but :

• "proxy loop detected (500)" appears in the front UI for this node ;
• containers are not shown with pct list (.conf files are in the right folder, /etc/pve/nodes/NEW_HOSTNAME/lxc/) ;
  
• /etc/pve/.version and /etc/pve/.members still have the old hostname (and these files can not be writed even with pmxcfs), while /etc/pve/.vmlist has the right one.

i guess that you still have the old nodename in /etc/hosts, which would mean that the node cannot resolve the hostname to its ip..
maybe change that and restart the server/the relevant services
