Hi

I have a 6 node cluster - i want to keep only 3 nodes - I have kept the others because I'm using them as ceph nodes.

I have bought some external USB chassis which I am going to attach to the nodes I am going to keep. can i simply move OSD / hard drives from 1 node to another with Ceph pick this up ?

To follow on with this - how can configure ceph so that I can have a cephpool ? or a cephfs ? that is linked to the slow drives - for longer term cold storage - compared to hot data - like vm's and lxc.

I read that you should really only have 1 cephfs per cluster.

the other option i have is I have another proxmox cluster - made with smaller nodes - like rasperypi's I could attach the chassis and drives there - but i couldn't just move the OSD's

EDIT
found this https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-pveceph.html#pve_ceph_device_classes re pools and ceph
I think i might have had it wrong ..

Still want to know about moving OSD is it that simple.

I had deleted ceph cluster in my proxmox. It is too expensive for homelab. The Publication is enough to make sure my vms migrations between in nodes.
