NO Web UI without a ping

i just set up my dell poweredge t420 for the first time, its running proxmox, i am having a network problem where i am unable to use the web UI unless i ping the client from the host? i am new so if there is more information you need let me know any help is appreciated.

proxmox network config

iPv4 Address
192.168.1.253
Subnet Mask
255.255.255.0
IPv4 DNS
192.168.1.1

Windows pc
IPv4 Address
192.168.1.159
Subnet Mask
255.255.255.0
IPv4 DNS
192.168.1.1
 
Sounds like a suspect duplicate IP. What exactly does "unable to access the Web UI" mean?
What is the output of "arp -n" on your client immediately after you try to access Web UI?
What does it look like after the ping from the host?

Also possible: some "fancy" home router funny business.

I think you may have messed the CIDR/Subnet mask in config/install.

Please post output for:
Code:
cat /etc/network/interfaces

cat /etc/hosts

ip a

Enter each line & then post the output here, (preferably within CODE tags - if possible).
 
Hello thanks for the feedback
When i said i was unable to access the web UI i thought that was straight forward but I mean that I can’t use the website at all like it shows no connection.

I also set my router to have a fixed IP for my server so i would assume it’s reserved for it no?
 
Here is the configuration information
As I thought: your CIDR configuration is wrong - you are showing an IP address 192.168.1.253/0 that should probably be 192.168.1.253/24

If you post the output for cat /etc/network/interfaces (which you were asked to do before) I'll show you what to change.
