Good evening everyone.
I create a virtual machine in storage nfs smoothly. But when I start the vm Syslog shows the following message: "Jul 15 19:51:11 Proxmox-new rpc.statd [1725]: Failed to insert: creating / var / lib / nfs / sm /.: Is a directory
Jul 15 19:51:11 Proxmox-new rpc.statd [1725]: STAT_FAIL to debian105 is SM_MON of 192.168.1.14
Jul 15 19:51:11 Proxmox-new kernel: lockd: can not monitor 192.168.1.14 "

Someone has gone through this and managed to solve? What this message means?
I already gave all the necessary permissions on the way but the failure remains.

A hug to everyone, I hope some help.

I noticed that this error occurs only with Containers, when it comes to VMs (kvm) everything works normally.
The question now is: Is it possible to run containers in a storage NFS? The creation of the storage container happens without errors. But when you start the machine, it starts but displays the error, discussed above in Syslog. And therefore this machine is not available on the network. No answer.

Short answer: Container virtualization does technically work on NFS.

Long answer: NFS Spews little files all over the container, these cause problems for applications where the software tries to manage the files in it's folders. An example of a program that fails to work in a container is cPanel. When cPanel is installed on a container it is unable to repair its permissions (using the built in tools), etc.

According to the cpanel support ticket folks production environments should use real storage, not NFS. That being said, I prefer NFS for VM storage as it is quite forgiving of network issues, I do however use either a VM or alternate storage (local, iscsi, etc) for containers that require controlled folders.

Hopefully this is helpful.
