Hello all,
Currently we are running Esxi 6.7 on 4 Dell R430 servers.
We are investigating to move to Proxmox. For this we need to Buy some new servers witch should be Dell

Now we have selected

PowerEdge R6515

AMD EPYC 7443P 2.85GHz, 24C/48T, 128M Cache (200W) DDR4-3200 Processor
64 Gb ( 4 * 16GB RDIMM, 3200MT/s, Dual Rank)

2 TB SSD drives for VM's/Containers
2 x SD card for Operating system 1( 1backup)

Questions
1 AMD EPYC 7443P 2.85GHz, 24C/48T, 128M Cache (200W) DDR4-3200 Processor I could not find anything on proxmox about supported processors) ?
1 The proxmox system acn run on the 16GB sd cards, or better use a seperate harddisk set. ?

The old R430 are 16C intel processors but they are really expensive or very long delivery times.
Will this give problem if we export Windows 2016 Server VM's form Esxi to Proxmox ?

I dont see any issue with 3rd gen Epyc, we use 2nd Gen EPYC on a cluster of 4. Although numa node will require some setup based on your requirement in bios.

proxmox uses zfs by default. There is option to use xfs or ext4 but ssd is recommended as i am not familiar with what type of sd that comes with your system. zfs will require enterprises level drives as the wear out is bit on the high end.

Proxmox runs on top of Debian, so if it's supported on Debian, it should work on Proxmox.

Proxmox will definitely burn out any flash storage (that includes SD and consumer SSD) if it's not enterprise grade.

I use 2 x SAS HDDs for Proxmox OS itself being mirrored by ZFS RAID-1.

Then use enterprise SSDs for VMs.

Thx all,
we are currently running 4 ESXI 6.7
They are all dell R430 machines each with 64GB ram and 3 SSD 2 GB ( Intel DC S3520 Series 960GB SSD)
The plan is to reduce the 4 to 2 new servers. For our company the Proxmox licence model is better then VMware)
The new server also has Dell SSD suitable for virtual environments
We are running VM's
2x Windows7
3x Windows10
4x Server2012/2016
4x Debian

1 other question
If we start running in a cluster, is it ok to mix servers with Intel and AMD hosts

you need 3 hosts if you want to do a proxmox cluster.
(at least a small third host to keep quorum).

you can mix intel && amd, but live migration sometimes could fail, it's really random, depend of exact cpu type.

@jdancer

I was wrong about the old system from Dell, now they have a system called BOSS controller card + with 2 M.2 Sticks 240G (RAID 1)
Since i run proxmox @home for some years on my M2 card Intel nuc i think this a save choice. Also allowed by Dell For Virtual systems like Esxi.
Since 1 want to do HA i decided to contact my Boss to get Intel based servers

All your listed vms will work without any issue. Mixing amd and intel is not really recommended however, will they work? yes.
As mentioned the challenge is with live migration where it may break the vm operation sometimes and requires you to shutdown fully and start it.
We do have intel servers part of our epyc cluster and it works fine even for live migration as long as we keep the cpu type to "kvm". I will not qualify my input to be used for your setup as we do not run any production vms across these 2, rather run our test vms between them.

I think you will like proxmox. we jumped ship quite recent and we are happy.

Long time since my last post.

The next server will be below
We have to use some specific network cards Intel X710 Dual Port 10GbE SFP+ Adapter, PCIe Low Profile
I could not find if proxmox support this cards ?
Or go with Broadcom 57414 Dual Port 10/25GbE SFP28 Adapter, PCIe Low Profile, V2

Below the config AMD PROC, 96 GB RAM 3 X1.92 GB RAM
