Hello, new Proxmox user, trying to understand how I need to configure my 3 identical nodes in a cluster for network. 500gb SSD disk configured with ZFS raid 0 for boot and vm/ct, and 2tb SSD disk for storage in each node. 32gb ram in each node.
I have 4, 2.5gb NICs on each node. Current configuration:
1) enp2s0 - Proxmox UI on 1.x/24 default network / vlan
2) enp3s0 - Corosync / cluster communication on 3.x/24 vlan
3) enp4s0 and enp5s0 - Bonded storage communication on 4.x/24 vlan
In this configuration, where would it be best to place the vm/ct network? Would it be better to split out the bond and put the network traffic for vm/ct on its own interface and storage on its own interface or direct it to enp2s0? I have vlans 110, 107, and 108 to create and attach to a bridge yet so trying to understand which bridge I should attach them to for the vm/ct.
This is for home use. I am using MikroTik CRS310-8g+25+in network switches (8 2.5gbe ports and 2 10gb sfp+ ports) interconnected with 10gb fiber and use OPNSense on its own bare metal installation on a separate computer that is connected via a bonded 2.5gb pair the same MikroTik switch as node one is connected. I have node one on one switch and nodes two and three connected to another switch (node two and three are connected to the same switch). My reasoning for this was because if I was rebooting a switch I had a level of protection complete node failure as long as both switches were not down at the same time.
I plan to deploy home assistant, Plex media server, a windows 11 workstation, homebridge, and scrypted to start out. Unlikely I’ll deploy much else at the moment but enjoying knowing I can if I want or need too.
Thanks for helping me understand and ensure I’m configuring correctly for my environment.
