Hello all...

I'm trying to gauge my success but I'm very new at this... Goal is to setup a TrueNAS Core system on top of Proxmox. I've got a basic setup completed and I've been experimenting with NICs. I'm using a couple of "cheaper" 10G/Dual port/RJ45 cards that report as X540-AT2. I've connected them direct to each other and, using iperf, I'm getting just under 4Gbps using a very short Cat7 cable.

Everything on Proxmox is basically default and I'm not passing anything PCI direct to the VM. Does this sound right? Seems lower than I expected.

I'm looking for feedback and maybe a current recommendation on a "golden" NIC. Final goal would be to connect the system to my switch at 10G but likely via a DAC interface so I'm looking for a good NIC recommendation with SFP cage.

it seems you iperf over the bridge vmbr0, which is cpu bound.
or you iperf between two hosts ?
