Hi,

After upgrading from proxmox 8.1 to 8.2 I get slower network speeds. I have a docker running speedtest-tracker that uses speedtest-cli to track internetspeed. It runs once every hour. My internetspeed is 500mpbs but after upgrading to 8.2 I only get around 350mpbs.

I setup a local iperf server on another machine and ran a test:
Code:
[ 5] local 10.10.10.115 port 5201 connected to 10.10.10.16 port 49418
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate
[ 5] 0.00-1.00 sec 41.2 MBytes 345 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 1.00-2.00 sec 40.5 MBytes 340 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 2.00-3.00 sec 42.1 MBytes 354 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 3.00-4.00 sec 42.0 MBytes 353 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 4.00-5.00 sec 42.1 MBytes 353 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 5.00-6.00 sec 42.2 MBytes 353 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 6.00-7.00 sec 41.1 MBytes 345 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 7.00-8.00 sec 40.9 MBytes 343 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 8.00-9.00 sec 40.6 MBytes 341 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 9.00-10.00 sec 40.5 MBytes 340 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 10.00-10.00 sec 128 KBytes 268 Mbits/sec

I have attached a screenshot where you clearly can see when the speed changed :)

If I put the network cable that is attached to the proxmox server and attach it to my laptop I get 500mpbs so the cabe or network is not the issue.

I run proxmox on an Intel bases macbook pro and I use a usb-c network adapter.

How can I debug this and find the issue?

Hm strange just after I wrote this I plugged in another adapter and then switched back to the original (and a couple of reboots) and after that it seems like the speeds are back.

Ok, thanks for the help. seem to be working now.

oh dear i am looking for the same thing but my speeds are 2Gbit but everything on my network should be 10gb. with the exception of an access point that is 1gb. but for tests that was unplugged.

I am thinking linux bridge or the firewall that is so strange, the other thing i noticed when i installed opnsense i normally do the old school 192.168.1.1 but i notice despite doing that proxmox reported the connection as .100 so changed opnsense to .100 my thinking maybe this was some sort of googus setup that proxmox does with its vms to physical i don't know as i am new to proxmox was running Vmware Esxi 7.0 update 3 similar setup but minus a vswitch as this time i used proxmox in passthrough to my nic that talks to the NTU. "media changer" that is bridged.
