Network problems: single public IP doubly assigned

Hello,

I was trying to configure a VM as a proxy in front of the host machine, how can I get such a scenario with a single public IP server?

eth0 is the physical link and then I created vmbr0 which links to eth0. After that, I set up vmbr0 on the VM and now I got both host and VM with the public IP assigned: how can this even be possible?

I want to put a proxy to monitorize all the network traffic that goes between the virtual machines.
