Network Config - Bonding with 1Gb ports vs adding 10Gb adapter

I am new to Proxmox and sorting out what I want to do with network configuration. Currently I have two, four-port cards with each port capable of 1Gpbs. I want devices across the network to have access to as much throughput as our switches allow. I plan to add a four port 10Gbps card to the server. If I do that is there any point in messing with Linux bonds or can I just stick with simple port configuration and use the 10Gbps ports for all traffic?

Also, I plan to convert a second server to Proxmox in the coming months and it will also have a 10Gbps card. Is it possible to link the two servers together on a 10Gbps port without the need to go through a switch?
