Need technical information about older versions of Proxmox

Hello,

I wanted to know what is the earliest version of Proxmox that supports Linux kernel 3.5. Also, if it were possible to get an installable iso of this version, it would be extremely helpful! I am trying to do some compatibility testing with another piece of software that has a requirement of Linux kernel 3.5 and greater. Thanks in advance!

If you have user software that requires an old Kernel, you would just need to install latest PVE and then create a VM there with the OS/Kernel you need. You would not install old Kernel directly on hypervisor.

Here is the short of it:
Kernel 3.5 was released in 2012, 14 years ago

You can check PVE press releases and find that PVE 2.2 had Kernel 2.6, PVE4 had Kernel 4.2. So there may have been 3.5 somewhere in the middle.
You can also check Roadmap

That said, none of those versions are supported in any way, shape or form. The ISOs of those versions is not officially provided by PVE and you will have to hunt it down on your own.

I am very curious what you could possibly need to run directly on hypervisor that needs Kernel 3.5.

PS - from the roadmap 3.5 appears to have never been officially supported/used. You can see the jump from 3.19 to 4.2 here: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Roadmap#Proxmox_VE_4.0_beta2
