I have a single host that I want to run about 4 VM's on, I currently have 4 drives, One has proxmox on it.
Whats the best way to go about getting local storage that supports qcow2 VM's for live snapshots.

I tried the http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Storage_Model#Directory with lvm but it only lets me create raw images. I can create qcow2 VM's on the local disk that proxmox is installed on. should I be adding the other drives as directories?

Thanks in advance.

Proxmox is already installed on LVM local storage. If you are planning to keep single node setup for quite sometime, just extend the /dev/pve/data LVM over to your other hdd to create a big partition then store all your vm on there.

Thanks for the reply
I will be adding a second node at some point but at the moment this is just for server consolidation, getting rid of aging hardware. One of the machines ill be converting to a VM will be reused as a second node as its less than 2 years old.

Is there a reason that the default LVM local storage is handled differently than a second one I create? I would prefer a separate array for VM's to sit on. But if its not possible then so be it.
Is this what you are talking about
