Hello all,
I exported a SAN volume to 2 different hosts and I have create a thin pool on this volumne.
After that I have created a virtual Machine; during the windows installation, I tried to create another VM on the same thin pool but the proxmox anwers with this error message:

Task viewer: VM 106 - Create

OutputStatus

Stop
Using default stripesize 64.00 KiB.
device-mapper: create ioctl on LVM--VG01-dataLVM-T6Pm6LkKFhD0vtIzB2388ieL0sC5Y94KNCv5hFRHqy0r5U4aYLGf9RDcQzyR5PCh-pool failed: Device or resource busy
TASK ERROR: create failed - lvcreate 'LVM-VG01/vm-106-disk-1' error: Aborting. Failed to locally activate thin pool LVM-VG01/data.

Is there a way to create and manage 2+ Virtual Machine on a same LV thin pool?
On rhev I have seen that this is possibile using Storage Pool Manager; is there a similar service on proxmox?

Thx
Giovanni

you cannot use lvm thin on a shared block device, this will not work please use plain lvm (not thin)

Hi, thank you for the answer.
Ok I'll use plain LVM.
some questions:

1. plain LVM can't make snapshot, right?
2. can multiple VM on multiple host "survive" on the same VG ? Do I need some extra configuration?

Thank you
Gio
