msata ssd (mlc type) to usb 3.0

Checking to see if anyone has tried using a msata ssd to a usb 3.0 converter as the proxmox boot drive.

1. If so have you had any problems?
2. Any endurance issues with this type of ssd?

I am trying to free up another drive bay in several servers if this is a possible method.

I have used MSATA drives for a lot of things.
I have also booted my proxmox host from USB. There I was using a thumb drive/stick. That was a bad idea.
Now I have a regular 2,5" SSD with 8GB. No issues since then.

As long as you are only booting from that drive I can see no issues - also not with the endurance.
USB per se also works for boot. So the combination should be a no-brainer in my opinion.
I'd just make sure not to purchase the cheapest case. I use the following case for my mSATA backup boot device of my Laptop: Inateck USB 3.0 mSATA Aluminum SSD Enclosure Adapter Case with USB 3.0 Data Cable for M50 mSATA SSD
