Hello, in my home lab server I have one 480 Gb ssd, one 2 Tb hdd and one 4 Tb hdd. Proxmox runs on ssd and i added the 2 hdd's as Directories (Disk1 and Disk2) in Proxmox interface.
Then I installed OpenMediaVault as guest and attached Disk1 and Disk2 as additional hard drives in virtual machine hardware configuration.
Everything works fine, I use it as a file/media server, but in case that OpenMediaVault vm fails how do I re-attach the images (qcow2) stored on the hdd's to a new installation of OpenMediaVault guest?Thank you

Hi,

the correct way is to rename the image, so the VMID will match to the disk and new VM and then you must add the image to the vm config

You can do this with this command

qm set <VMID>

Hello, I have one more question, when I mount a fresh 2 Tb qcow2 disk image into a virtual machine it takes like an hour or so to format it to ext4 using mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdb1, is there any way to avoid this, is something related to qcow2?If I format the same hdd directly into ProxMox it finishes in about 10 seconds.Thank you
