It appears mixed nodes work, at least short term per post
https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/can-i-mix-promxox-6-and-proxmox-7-in-the-same-cluster.92214/
I have a similar need. I have a 4 node cluster all 6.4, and need to reuse same hardware but change to 7.2. I don't want to upgrade as I have vendor addon repos, and don't want issues with interfaces changing order. I want to replace 6.4 nodes one at a time, (migrate off VMs, remove 6,4 node, re image with 7.2, re add, migrate VMs back).
Do I need to rename and re IP each node, so cluster is not confused? Can I use the same shared HP MSA2040 SAS storage between 6.4 and 7.2 nodes? Anything else to be cautious about?

Thanks,

Dale

you can mix 6.X && 7.X nodes without any problem, no need to rename or change ip of the hosts.

empty a 6.X node , do the upgrade, then migrate vm from a 6.X node to the 7.X node, then update 6.X node, ...
