Hi,

I have decided to move to Proxmox from VZ cloud. I'm intending to install 5-8 servers and use Proxmox with Ceph.

As I want to re-use some of the SSD's on the old kit, I'm wondering if it's possible to setup a standalone Proxmox server and temporarily migrate the containers from VZ and finally migrate them to the Ceph server array?

Would this work?

Yes that would work. Once the Ceph array is set up and your stand alone host was made cluster member you can use the "Move Disk" functionality from PVE, with this you can move the disks (live) to the ceph storage.

Your temporary host should have enough horse power for the CT though :)
