Hi all,

I'm a bit confused with moving data between hard disks in one VM.

In VM 2 hard drives:
1. local:100/vm-100-disk-1.vmdk (SATA)
2. local:100/vm-100-disk-2.qcow2 (VIRTIO)

1. Any idea how to make 1:1 migration from first to second drive?
2. If it's not possible, then why? Is there any other way, like create new VM and move data there?

It looks like you just want to convert the .vmdk to .qcow2 - you can use the Move Disk button in the GUI for that. This works without creating the new disk in advance.

After you do the "move" then to switch from SATA to VIRTIO first you need to shut down the machine (if not already) then detach the drive to make it "unused" then click on it and re-add it using the controller you want. Preferably SCSI with VIRTIO rather than VIRTIO-BLK.
