After having carried out a backup
in snapshot mode, every now and then
what happens is that the MBR risults corrupted
and the partition table risults blank (data lost).
The virtual machine is not bootable any more.

If we carry out the backup in SUSPEND or STOP mode,
this does not happen.
 
We've had same issues sometimes, too.

As described, booting from a live-cd, e.g. gparted.iso, and reconstructing mbr inc. partition table was possible.

We changed backup policy in a way to splitt backup jobs.
Now max. 2 machines get backed up by one job. Before there had been up to five.
Backuptarget is a cifs-share.
After reducing the number those issues went away.
