Max Backups

Hello everyone,

I'm going through some conflicts regarding Max Backups today and I have 2 VMs that I need to be backed up every day, but these backups have different amounts.

Example:
VM1 I need to keep the backup for the last 7 days.
VM2 I need to keep the backup for the last 15 days.

With this I defined in my Storage the max backups 15 files, but it maintains 15 files for the 2 VMs.

I think this Max Backups option should be in the Backup Scheduling settings where for each VM I would define their amount of backupfiles.

Not quite sure I understand you correctly. The max backups configuration defines how many backups are allowed in that storage per guest.
So if you require daily backups you need to store the backups for VM1 and VM2 on different storages, from PVE's point of view, one configured to retain 8 backups and one to retain 16 backups.
That doesn't mean you need to have different disks. You can simply create two directories in your disk/storage/… and include each as a separate directory storage with different max backups configured.

see the example of the images where I have the same Storage set for the backup of both VMs but I have the max backups different, I know it has a patch of a developer that does the incremental backup, but the option of max backups to be defined in "BACKUP JOB" and valid, I think it should be default on proxmox.
