Hi, I'm new - maybe someone can help. I've decided to install and set up a mail server, but I don't know where to start! I've set one up from scratch - unfortunately without backup and everything is gone again! I used iredmail there which I think is user-friendly.. does anyone have templates lxc container images/scripts/templates for iredmail or do you have another idea for a mail server?

iredmail is great and provides a lot of resources, including an active forum. If you can run a vm instead of container the installation process is pretty straight forward.

i had it in a vm before..That is not a very good starting point, as your server will be taken over in minutes and used for spam. Also you need a stable, public IP otherwise you won‘t be able to send any messages to others.
If you still want to continue, I‘d recommend „mailcow dockerized“, which orchestrates the various components of a mail-system from a single configration file.
