LXCs cannot update from local repo, KVMs can

I built a local Ubuntu (24.04 and 22.04) mirror on an LXC using nginx. It appeared to work well when testing from a test KVM. So i start migrating over my LXCs (which update fine from public mirrors) to use the new local mirror and they hang with the message 'Waiting for headers' and it eventually times out. This is for LXCs on hosts other than what host the mirror LXC is on. I then tested a number of KVMs across all cluster hosts and all work fine.

Using wget, I found that all the LXCs hang trying to pull Packages.xz file in every repo.

Using netcat (nc) same results.

Both versions on the mirror (24.04 and 22.04) act exactly the same.

I installed apache on another port, same results. KVMs good, LXCs no go.

Privileged / Unprivileged makes no difference.

My LXCs use the Proxmox supplied templates.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
