LXC in different VLAN (subnet) than host cannot connect with static IP

Hello - my host network (vmbr0) is
IP 10.0.1.50/24
Gateway 10.0.1.1

The bridge (vmbr0) is VLAN aware.

I am creating an LXC with
VLAN 11
IP 10.0.11.3/24
Gateway 10.0.11.1

When I specify the static IP and gateway, the LXC cannot connect to the internet at all. When I switch from static to DHCP, I can successfully connect to the internet.

Please cure my insanity and tell me what I am doing wrong.
 
How does the network configuration look like when you select DHCP in the container? Is it possible that the container uses the wrong DNS server when u are statically configuring the IP, as opposed to the correct one when you are using DHCP?
 
Hi Stefan, thanks for your response.

DNS is set to inherit host settings on both configurations (sent to my pihole instance).

With static config apt update just hangs, no internet connection.

DHCP (I have 101-254 configured on my firewall for DHCP):
