Hi All,

I am a complete beginner this is my first proxmox install really excited to start using it but would really like to work out and learn how to fix something like this instead of just avoiding it and running away. I had it up and running and was able to connect via SSH and web GUI.

I have a MS-01 Mini PC it has two SFP+ IntelX710 and 2x Intel LM-1226 2.5GB ports

The machine is using one of the 2.5gb ports for the bridge thats the only connection I have configured.

I installed a Dell Intel Ethernet i350 Quad Port 1GbE Base-T Adapter into the PCI E Slot. (i350-T4)

Have been digging around the forums a bit before this post a few people have had issues with these cards it seems but not like this. As soon as I install the NIC and boot it up I lose the SSH and GUI connection from my onboard 2.5gb connection and I can't figure out why installing this card knocks out the Lan connection.

As soon as I take the card out again and boot it up its fine can connect no problem. I dont get why installing a PCI NIC would interfere with my onboard nic

Anyone have idea why this is happening and how to fix it. I would really like to be able to use this PCI card. Have used a couple of commands i found on other posts to get a little information. See attached.

Would it be worth just trying a full reinstall of proxmox with this card in and see if that resolves it or what it not make a difference? Do i have to turn off SR-IOV for this card or somthing like that?

Many Thanks,

Ooo, I'm new too and I know the answer =D This was just happening to me.

When you install a new PCI device (no matter what it is, for me it was NVME drives) the names of your network interfaces change.

The solve is to run ip a and get the new names of the interfaces. Then nano /etc/network/interfaces and update the names. Then, you can try systemctl restart networking and that might fix it or just reboot, which is what I was doing.
