Hi all,
Just to share my own experience. I have a 2 nodes cluster (master + node) and both are running Proxmox 1.8 with all stable updates and safe-upgrade applied. In order to upgrade to the 1.9 release I proceeded as follow:
1° Live migration of all KVM VMs from the master to the 2nd node.
2° Applied the 1.8 to 1.9 upgrade procedure as explained in the "1.9 Downloads" doc to the master.
After the reboot I got the master up and running with the pveversion -v output identical to the one displayed in "1.9 Downloads" doc.
Opening the web Interface, I can see my cluster with both nodes active and in sync.
Now I started to live migrate a first VM from the 2nd node (still in 1.8) to the master (freshly upgraded in 1.9) but the live migration failed. However, stopping any VM before migration works.
I was hoping that the live migration should work because it is very convenient : no downtime.
Of course, any firmware/software incompatibilities between live migration tools justify my failure but it shouldn't be the case every time, right ?
May I consider my upgrade procedure valid or not recommended between different Proxmox release?
Best regards
