Hi Team,

I have a Lenovo SR650 with 2 M.2 NVIE drives as a raid 1 on a card and then 12 X 450GB SSD D3-S4510 and 6 X 1.2TB sas connected both on a ThinkSystem RAID 930-24i 4GB Flash 12Gb Adapter.

I would like to use the M.2 drives for the os (Proxmox) and then have storage pool one with the SSD only and one with the sas drives. I am hoping to maybe have both SSD and SAS as raid 10.

What is the best way to set it please?

Single node setup? In that case I would just configure the LUNs in the raid controller and format everything with LVM-thin:
- 2x M.2 in RAID1, install Proxmox there (ext4)
- one RAID10 with the HDDs, set up a LVM-thin pool on the LUN
- one RAID10 with the SSDs, set up a LVM-thin pool on the LUN

Ceph or ZFS want HBAs (no raid controllers), so that wouldnt be ideal here. You could also configure something like a RAID5, but virtualization workloads do like the performance that you get from RAID10.

With Lenovo , we have both SR530 and some others. So usually i work on everything with internal RAID and LVMThin

You just use the GUi for that: Host > DIsks > LVM-Thin > Create: Thinpool and select the right disk
