Long story short - a client is now running Proxmox with a Win2K8 guest. They need to run Windows backup on this, and would like to use multiple USB hard disks in rotation.

What is the current best method to get the USB disks to show in Windows in such a way that they can plug and unplug them?
I've seen a few different methods and suggestions on the forums, but all seem to come back to not knowing how reliable it will be with unplugging and replugging.

Longer term plan is to purchase a NAS, put it in their other building across the street and get Proxmox to do snapshots onto that. But for now, they will need the USB disks.

I would go for the NAS. USB hotplug is not very stable in V1.9, an it is limited to USB 1.1 protocol (it is much better in V2.0)

OK. Fair enough.

I guess I'll set up the external drive for Proxmox snapshots for now and start on convincing them to buy the NAS :p
