Hi, when I install GNU/linux guests, like Kubuntu, I've two problems:
a) the java console size is often too big respect of my computer screen, so can't operate properly during installation (I don't see the buttons for Ok, for instance, or other stuff put at the bottom). Is there a way to have that window with a reasonable size respect to my PC (i.e. laptop has 1280x800)
b) I've noticed that once installed, vnc connection to Kubuntu 12.04 or more recent has the fonts unreadable, they seem half rendered (the resto of the graphic seems ok)

My PC has Kubuntu 12.04, guest is Kubuntu 12.04 too, proxmox is:

I have the same problem : some fonts are not readable onn vnc console when connecting to kubuntu (or other ubuntu-like). This makes impossible to use these oses through the vnc console.

Some fonts are correctly rendered by not other (especially in the kubuntu terminal).

I use free(dom) software, and with jdk icedtea plugin version < 1.4.3 the window froze. Then I had to install, in this pc at work, proprietary java.
I solved the problem, as far as I remember, totally removing JDK and related stuff, and re-installing oracle java.
Hope it helps, looking forward to a totally spice enabled proxmox (it''s coming soon) :)

There was a bug in icedtea java. It's fixed in latest ubuntu versions (13.10).

Try to disable all desktop effects. I guess that the lack of 3D acceleration capabilities makes this kind desktop more or less useless in virtual world. It's the same with unity.

Some fonts (window titles or in terminal for example) are not well displayed: they appeared in multi-colors, almost unreadable.

This happens on 13.10 ubuntu version: xubuntu, kubuntu, mint 16 ..
This occurs without desktop efefcts, even after bootoing from the CDRIM.

The client is windows 7, with Oracle Java 7u45.

I always have this problem which makes vnc viewer totally useless.

BTW Spice still also gives black screen in many cases.
