Hello all
for the last 3 weeks I am having tons of issue installing and configuring and trunas scale on proxmox 9. I followed religiously to steps on video from youtube
Everything was working fine for over 3 years on proxmox 8 (except when i screw up. which i did).
3 week ago there was a massive thunderstorm and this corrupted my main server (dell R720) which i had to rebuild from scratch at this time.
Therefore i decided to install proxmox 9 and created the vms (home assistant and truenas scale) and everything was working fine for a week.
Then calamity struck again. Theis time i can no longer login to my truenas web interface.
I proceeded to stop remove the vm and create a new vm and re-install the latest trunas scale iso
3 errors show up during the installation.
The only one i can see is ipa epn fail
then i get the vm menu and the ip address.
i shutdown the vm and remove the iso disk before it start the vm again
and it boots fime
I log into the ip address and the first thing i do is I set the network environment (WORKGROUP) and change the DHCP ip top a static one.
I add myself as a user with the builtin administrator as a group
I log into the web page with the new ip address and with my new credentials and all works fine.
I stop the VM and attach my disks (7 disk in 2 vdevs) using qm set 104 -scsi1 /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-35000cca2552266a0 in the pve shell
I start the vm and log into the web interface page
I add the pool (media) and start creating my datasets (document music apps etc) all as Samba share.
In services i did enable and configure the smb and nfs services. Usually once this is donne I reboot the vm.
However since the lasted debacle every time i do this i no longer can reach the vm web interface.
I look at the vm console and i see the vm started with the correct ip address is shown
however after a few seconds an error appears in the console
fail to start mndb.servece samba nmb daemon
I stopped and removed the vm several times from pve and created a new one every time from scratch
and same situation occurs.
I searched the net and i found a post to add min the console service samba.server restart i tried this
and i got
failed to start samba.service.server unit samba.service.server not found
What am i doing wrong and how do i fix it? should i go back to ver proxmox 8.x?
