Hi Everyone,

I raised the following with Asus support and they turned me back to Linux community saying they only support Windows 11 64bit, Ubuntu 23.10, Ubuntu 24.04lts and Red Hat Enterprise 9.3.

I am running Proxmox VE 8.3.1 on and Asus NUC 14 Pro (NUC14RVH-B). BIOS is current at RVMTL357.0045.2024.1008.1426.

Would anyone know if I should be concerned about these kernel errors I get when running: dmesg | grep -i -E 'error|fail|warning'? While also any solutions?

1. Symbol Resolution Errors

ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PC00.LPCB.HEC.DPTF.FCHG], AE_NOT_FOUND (20230628/psargs-330)

ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.IETM.CHRG.PPSS due to previous error (AE_NOT_FOUND) (20230628/psparse-529)

2. Fan Control Errors

asus_wmi: fan_curve_get_factory_default (0x00110024) failed: -19

asus_wmi: fan_curve_get_factory_default (0x00110025) failed: -19

asus_wmi: fan_curve_get_factory_default (0x00110032) failed: -19

Let me know if you think there is a better community to turn to.

Appreciate any support in advance.

Proxmox VE 8.3 uses a kernel very similar to Ubuntu. Can you test with the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS installer (don't install just boot) and see if you get the same (mostly harmless) error messages? If so, please contact Asus again since they claim to support that Ubuntu version.

Hi,

Thank you both for quick replies and also confirming I shouldn't worry too much about the errors. I don't see excessive fans or anything. So I wasn't to worried. But thermal management could be important for the hardware over time.

@leesteken when you say don't install. Do you mean just run on a USB boot or something else?

Cheers,

Reece

There is no need to install Ubuntu. Boot the Ubuntu installer (via USB or DVD) and get to the live install graphical desktop where you can open a terminal and look at the system log. I think it's called "Try Ubuntu" versus "Install Ubuntu".

Thanks will try it!

Saw the same errors on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Clearly an issue with the ASUS BIOS related to Debian. Thank your for the easy solution with the live boot to verify.
