Issues after disk filled up

Dear all,

last night the root filesystem of my PBS filled up completely. I added additional space to the disk, created a new partition, added it to the lvm and successfully expanded the VG.
However, I am now stuck to find a way to extend the filesystem so that the host boots up again.
Knoppix successfully sees the extended vg, but if I want to do a resize2fs /dev/pbs/root I am getting an error about bad superblock and readonly filesystem.

Any hints how to take the last step to get this host up again?

Thanks,

Ben

OK, so I booted the parted live ISO and extended the FS. In addition I had to do a vgchk --updatemetadata as an older version was obviously used when doing the other steps. However, I seem to be unable to bring the host up again.
In console I see

Bash:
Found volume group "pbs" using metadata type lvm2
2 logical volume(s) in volume group "pbs" now avtive
/dev/mapper/pbs-root: clean, 77171/3907584 files, 7349807/15626240 blocks

Is there any way to access the console so that I can see more than this message?

Booting from the latest PBS ISO into rescue mode stops at "Mounting sys-kernel-debug - Kernel Debug File System"

So for the records in case someone stumbles over my monologue: I had to change graphics card in Synology to via then I could successfully use the console and fix my issue. Was down to an obviously failed attached USB drive. Removed it from fstab in rescue mode and PBS booted up back fine.
