Hello so recently I have been wanting to test out building a homelab and before I go all out and invest the money I wanted to play with Proxmox a bit and get a feel for the interface so when I purchase all the stuff I know what to do and how to do it... I have a HP Compaq 6000 SFF with an Intel Pentium E6700 and 8 GB of Ram with a 1 TB HDD and a 1 TB SSD that I use to mess around with things like Ubuntu, Kali, Parrot, Etc.... So I put in fresh new hard drives and SSD and installed Proxmox 6.3 onto a USB Stick with Etcher and plugged into the computer... After getting to the boot menu and selecting "USB Stick" it told me that they could not find any media on a USB Drive... Just curious why it wouldnt find anything on the stick. I tried Rufus and Etcher 100 times and I enabled virtualization on the BIOS... Just curious if im missing anything or if its just not compatible with the machine. I just want to test things out and play with it using this machine.

Try re-downloading the image and compare / verify checksums. Sometimes the DL get corrupted and this could be one of the results.

I will attempt that.. I should have noted when I try to install it on my normal machine like my personal computer with a blank hard drive it installs fine its just on this other machine I have issues.

Try different USB ports. Preferably one directly on the motherboard (not going through lengthy cables).
Some USB sticks don't like those ports at the front...

I add that I had problems installing Kubuntu from USB2 ports in my new workstation, while went fine on USB3. I thought USB2 was "more compatible" but was not the case...

Okay so after hours of messing around and hairpulling I come with news that it still isnt working... I try rufus in dd mode.. tried every port on the entire machine... I even wanted to see if it was the ports being an issue so I installed proxmox onto a hard drive in my local computer for personal use after which I put that drive in the workstation machine just to see (I know its not the best idea) and it still wouldnt work... I wonder if its something im missing in the BIOS? I dont know if there are any special settings I need set for it or not. The CPU and ram are all compatible soe thats not the issue

Okay I have come up with something new... So after reinstalling proxmox onto the USB drive and plugging it in the top USB port on the workstation I turned it on and it recognizes something and brings it into this "grub rescue mode"
