I am trying to write backups to 'lvm: DS1520-2' but every time I add 'backup' to the content line, all the drives disappear. I am sure I am missing something obvious, lol...

Any suggestions? Thank you!

@jmounts79 is correct. LVM is a block storage, i.e. it accepts Raw images.

Backups require file storage. One can slice off a piece of LVM pool, format it with a filesystem, mount it, and then point Backup storage pool to it.

Yes and you wouldn't be able to share that filesystem across multiple hosts, right?
Maybe the OP should setup an SMB share on Synology and use that for the dump backups instead?
